Runners nab cross-country title

A quartet of Central Alberta runners, who were racing for Elite Speed of Red Deer, captured the provincial junior men’s cross-country running title at Goldstick Park during the weekend.

EDMONTON — A quartet of Central Alberta runners, who were racing for Elite Speed of Red Deer, captured the provincial junior men’s cross-country running title at Goldstick Park during the weekend.

Matt Hope placed third, Adrian Christ fourth, Kieran McDonald fifth and Mitch Dore 13th in the six-kilometre race to beat out the University of Calgary Athletic Club.

Meanwhile Eric Lutz of Elite Speed won the two km bantam boys title while Jordana Cota, Alex Johnson and Sefra Daviduck were fourth, eighth and 13th in the junior women’s four km race.

Derrick Evans won the four km midget boys title.
