Saunders nabs biathlon bronze

Brad Saunders of Red Deer captured bronze in the senior boys’ 6.25-kilometre mass start race at the Edmonton Calforex Cup biathlon races during the weekend.

EDMONTON — Brad Saunders of Red Deer captured bronze in the senior boys’ 6.25-kilometre mass start race at the Edmonton Calforex Cup biathlon races during the weekend.

Saunders led the first lap and managed a perfect 5 in one of the four rounds of shooting. He now leaves for the Westerns in Prince George.

Meanwhile, Devin Saunders raced a personal best in finishing ninth in the development 2 division and also had a personal first in hitting all five targets in his second of three rounds of shooting. He will compete in the Alberta Cadets provincials this weekend in Canmore.

Brielle Saunders placed fifth in both of her races and also had one clean round of shooting.
