While there is much activity at this time of year with back-to-school, another important event that takes place this year is the election of school board trustees.

The election of trustees for Red Deer Public Schools takes place on Monday, Oct. 21. Nomination day is fast approaching with candidates needing to file their papers on Monday, Sept. 23.

Current and past boards of Red Deer Public Schools have encouraged citizens to consider running for the position of trustee, ensuring the board has strong representation that reflects the aspirations priorities and diversity of our community. Our district motto, “Your Children, Our Students, Everyone’s Future,” reflects the importance of public school education to our entire community, thus the importance of having individuals committed to a strong public education system serving as trustees.

Decisions made by the board of trustees play a significant role in providing direction and oversight that ensure high quality education for all our children.

It is essential that there be citizens willing to run for school board trustee. If you have an interest in running or know of someone who you feel would be a strong candidate, please give serious consideration to serving our community as school board trustee.
