Second foreign fugitive removed after capture

OTTAWA — The Canada Border Services Agency has removed a second foreign fugitive from the country after he was captured in Toronto a week ago.

OTTAWA — The Canada Border Services Agency has removed a second foreign fugitive from the country after he was captured in Toronto a week ago.

Shameer Allie of Guyana was one of 32 foreign nationals on a wanted list issued by the government agency last month.

He was captured by RCMP last Thursday after authorities received several tips to the Border Watch Line.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews released the list Aug. 18 and urged Canadians to help identify the 32 people who he said have not complied with immigration legislation and have criminal convictions in Canada.

“The persons on this list came to a welcoming country. Unfortunately, these individuals subsequently abused our laws, our generosity and our trust,” Toews said.

“I’m here to commend the CBSA on their actions to rapidly remove from Canada one of the individuals identified on the serious-criminality most-wanted list.”

Five listees have been apprehended or located and two have so far been removed from the country.

The only other person to have been caught and removed so far is Reginald George King of Jamaica.

The border services agency is warning people not take action to apprehend any of the listed individuals but is asking them to instead call the CBSA Border Watch Line at 1-888-502-9060.
