EDMONTON — A helicopter pilot has been injured in northern Alberta in the second chopper accident in the province in less than a week.

EDMONTON — A helicopter pilot has been injured in northern Alberta in the second chopper accident in the province in less than a week.

Capt. Al Baldry at the Joint Rescue Communications Centre at Canadian Forces Base Trenton says the helicopter was not involved in battling wildfires.

Baldry says the small commercial helicopter suffered some sort of accident north of Calling Lake on Monday morning, setting off its emergency locator beacon.

He says the pilot’s injuries were not life-threatening, but that the pilot was being transported by a helicopter because there are no roads in the area.

Another helicopter that was fighting wildfires crashed Friday into Lesser Slave Lake, killing the pilot.

The Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of that crash.
