Seniors uninjured after Calgary roof collapses

CALGARY — It was a close call for some Calgary seniors when the roof of their dining room collapsed at lunch time.

Fire department officials say crews arriving at Clifton Manor found a large amount of roofing material that had crashed into the dining hall below.

About three dozen staff and residents were in the room, but no one was hurt.

Officials say work was being done on the roof at the time.

Workers, materials and equipment were removed from the compromised roof as a precaution.

Investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened.
