Sentence hearings scheduled in Rocky murder case

Two people charged with a Rocky Mountain House murder a year ago are scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench.

Two people charged with a Rocky Mountain House murder a year ago are scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench.

Cameron Paul Strawberry, 37, of Rocky and Jenny Olivia Beaverbones, 26, also of Rocky, will have separate hearings which will have an agreed statement of facts and a joint submissions on sentence for the court’s consideration.

Meanwhile, Malvina Jean Beaverbones, 36, of Rocky who had her hearing delayed Tuesday, will now have her hearing on Nov. 25.

Her hearing is expected to be contested and could take all day.

Terrence Andy Beaverbones, 21, and Evan Everest Foureyes, 21, both also from Rocky had their hearing dates adjourned until Oct. 3 to possibly set new dates.

They are all charged with second-degree murder and all have been in custody since their arrests shortly after the Sept. 17, 2010 murder.

Darcy John Lightfoot, 30, was sentenced to six more years in prison after being credited for time served in a Queen’s Bench sentencing in August.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the killing of Gordon Strawberry, 45, of Rocky who was beaten with fists and a board, stomped on and stabbed at the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve 53 km northwest of Rocky.
