Sex assault charges stayed against daycare owner

EDMONTON — Sexual assault charges have been stayed against an Edmonton daycare owner.

EDMONTON — Sexual assault charges have been stayed against an Edmonton daycare owner.

Ali Mohamed Abdi, who is 47, was also accused of sexual interference.

Alberta Justice says the charges were stayed because there was little likelihood of a conviction.

Officers went to the daycare May 3 following a complaint.

Abdi said at the time that the accusations were part of a revenge plot by a disgruntled former employee.

The stay means the case can be reactivated within a year, but that typically doesn’t happen.
