A Clive-area resident accused of breaking into women’s homes to commit sexual acts has fixed a trial date on one set of charges, but has yet to enter plea on a second set.

Emyr Morris, 29, was arrested and charged in November by RCMP investigating complaints that a man had broken into a woman’s house a number of times, performed an indecent act, and then left pornographic material and stained underwear at the scene.

Morris has pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the initial offence, including five counts of housebreaking and one count each of criminal harassment and performing an indecent act. He has since been charged with similar offences in connection with a second set of incidents.

Released on a recognizance, Morris has asked for a trial in Court of Queen’s bench by judge and jury, with a preliminary hearing set for Red Deer provincial court on Nov. 1.

Preliminary hearings are used to determine the strength of the Crown’s case before proceeding to trial.

Morris is to return to court on July 19 to enter his plea on the newer charges.
