A bunch of youngsters may have approached the right person to ask about a skateboard park coming to Springbrook.

During the official May 16 opening of a community garden, Red Deer County Mayor Jim Wood was approached by some youth from the hamlet.

Wood told the rest of county council on Tuesday that the youth were wondering about whether such a park could be built. He told them he’d get back to them.

County staff will check into costs and location, as well as whether it would get enough use.

Recently, a consultant report showed that Springbrook doesn’t have enough people to warrant pursuing a community centre.

Consultant Robert Parks said a community centre would be more feasible when the population hits about 5,000.

The hamlet has about 1,000 people.
