Red Deer Skating Club members Amy Severtson and Cassandra Compton have earned the right to represent Zone 4 in the figure skating competition of the 2012 Alberta Winter Games Feb. 9-12 at Stony Plain and Spruce Grove.
Severtson placed first in the ladies pre-novice freeskate competition of the zone run-offs on Saturday at Indus, while Cassandra Compton punched her Winter Games ticket with a runner-up finish in the same event.
Red Deer skaters Courtney Dickson and Morgan Kreil qualified as alternates and will attend the Winter Games in the event that Severtson and Compton can not.
Dickson placed third in the ladies pre-novice freeskate and Kreil was third in the junior bronze freeskate.
