Skocdopole wins cross-country title

A pair of Notre Dame athletes led the local contingent at the provincial high school cross-country meet during the weekend.

DUNMORE — A pair of Notre Dame athletes led the local contingent at the provincial high school cross-country meet during the weekend.

Alana Skocdopole won the senior girls’ title in 16 minutes 54 seconds while Mitch Dore captured the junior boys’ race in 15:17.

Hunting Hills had six runners finish in the top 10, led by a trio of medal winners — Kieran McDonald, Matt Hope and Alex Johnson.

McDonald was second in senior boys at 22:06 with Hope third in intermediate boys at 18:05 and Johnson third in intermediate girls at 17:42.

Jordanna Cota was fourth in intermediate girls at 17:42 with Tom Wunsch fourth in senior boys at 22:30. Matt Van Mulligan placed seventh in intermediate boys at 19:21.

Sefrah Daviduck led Lindsay Thurber with a 10th-place finish in the intermediate girls with a time of 18:44.

Carson Jorgensen of Olds was sixth in the intermediate boys at 18:55.

In team competition Hunting Hills placed third in the 4A division with Notre Dame 10th and LTCHS 11th.

Camrose was 10th in the 3A division with Lacombe 12th and West Central of Rocky Mountain House 17th.

Sundre won the 2A division while New Norway was third and Coronation fourth in 1A.
