A Central Alberta farmer remains president of the National Farmers Union.

Jan Slomp of the Rimbey area was returned as president of the Canadian organization by acclamation. The union held its 45th Annual Convention in Saskatoon from Nov. 27 to 29.

The National Farmers Union was founded in 1969. It works to produce national and international policies that benefit small- and medium-sized farmers in producing safe, healthy foods in sustainable production systems.
