BISMARCK, N.D. — A single-engine plane flying from Canada to an air convention in Wisconsin made a safe emergency landing in North Dakota after having problems with its landing gear.

Bill Cocke of Bowden and his two passengers detoured to Bismarck on Tuesday when the plane’s landing gear dropped and the wheel under the nose did not properly lock in place.

Three fire trucks, seven squad cars, an ambulance and a water tanker were ready at the airport as the plane came in.

Cocke was able to get the wheel properly in place and the plane landed safely.
