Soehns capture four medals

Kyle and Keegan Soehn of the Red Deer Thunder Country Trampoline and Gymnastics Club each won two medals in the Elite Canada 2012 event during the weekend.

AIRDRIE – Kyle and Keegan Soehn of the Red Deer Thunder Country Trampoline and Gymnastics Club each won two medals in the Elite Canada 2012 event during the weekend.

The competition was open to national level trampoline athletes and also served as the first of two Olympic trampoline qualifiers for Canadian men.

Kyle picked up a silver medal in each of the trampoline and double mini trampoline (DMT) events, and placed fourth in synchronized trampoline. Keegan, meanwhile, won gold in trampoline and bronze in DMT and joined his brother to finish fourth in synchronized trampoline.

In addition, Kalena Soehn and Madeline Potter won bronze in synchronized trampoline, with Soehn also finishing sixth in DMT and 15th in trampoline and Potter placing 23rd in DMT and 25th in trampoline.

Caiden Cline and Zachary Blakely were fifth in synchronized trampoline. Cline was also 26th in trampoline and 22nd in DMT and Blakely was 27th in DMT and 30th in trampoline.

• Kalena Soehn picked up three gold medals in the novice 11-12 division of the provincial trampoline/tumbling championships at Airdrie, winning in trampoline and DMT as well as synchronized trampoline with Potter.

Keegan Soehn won gold in the senior men’s DMT and synchronized trampoline with Kyle Soehn, and Kyle struck gold in the trampoline and was sixth in DMT. Potter earned a bronze in DMT.

Meanwhile, Blakely was golden in the novice 11-14 boys trampoline and DMT and also won the synchronized trampoline event with Caiden Cline, who also won gold in novice trampoline and silver in DMT.

Other medal winners were Alexandra Potter, who mined gold in level A trampoline and DMT and silver in tumbling; Logan Chaput, gold in A level DMT, silver with Sam Peters in synchronized trampoline and bronze in trampoline and tumbling; Calvin Burton, gold in B level tumbling and bronze in DMT; Jordan Smith, gold in level B synchronized trampoline with Laura Anusch; Lauren Howse, gold in level C trampoline and DMT; Ashton Henfrey, gold in level C trampoline and DMT, bronze in synchronized trampoline with Everett Dool; Dool, silver in trampoline; Isabelle MacPherson and Maria Crichton, gold in level C synchronzied trampoline.
