The Environment Club at Hunting Hills High School was given a financial boost for its solar panel project. The club recently received a $5,000 grant from the World Wildlife Foundation bringing the fundraising tally to more than $25,000.

The money will be used to install and purchase 15 solar panels on the southeast side of the school. More panels will be added as the support grows.

Science teacher Nancy Vanderwater said the central office staff at Red Deer Public School District is undergoing the tendering process for the panels. She expects the panels will be up and running sometime in the fall. The panels are estimated to generate as much as 35 kilowatts of power each year.
