Soldiers accused of ripping off fellow military men

Two Edmonton soldiers are accused of trying to sell items owned by colleagues.

EDMONTON — Two Edmonton soldiers are accused of trying to sell items owned by colleagues.

The alleged victims are two men serving in Afghanistan and another soldier who was injured on a recent tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Police say two men were arrested after several recreational vehicles were taken from a storage compound at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton.

It’s alleged the men tried to sell the vehicles at a pawn shop.

Police spokesman Chad Orydzuk says military police are helping with the investigation and are checking with other personnel on the base to see if any other items have been reported missing.

Varrel Fitzcharles, 25, and Kieran Lawless-Johnston have been charged with possession of stolen property and break and enter. They each have a court date set for mid-August.
