Some Dream Home tickets still available

Red Deer Kinsmen are feeling the spirit of the season after selling out of 50/50 tickets this past weekend for the 2013 Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery.

Red Deer Kinsmen are feeling the spirit of the season after selling out of 50/50 tickets this past weekend for the 2013 Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery.

This is the first year the lottery has featured a 50/50 draw, with a minimum payout of $30,000 and maximum of $75,000, and the group of volunteers couldn’t be more pleased with the results, said Len Sisco, Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery chair.

About 73 to 75 per cent of tickets for the dream home, worth $890,000 and built by Larkaun Homes, have also been sold.

There were a total of 14,115 available.

“We have roughly 3,300 of the one for $100 tickets remaining,” Sisco said.

They also sold out of the three for $250 ticket packages over the weekend.

The Kinsmen are aiming for a complete sellout, which would be a first for the lottery since 1999.

Last year they only sold 70 per cent of tickets.

The dream home is located at 220 Vancouver Cres., in Red Deer’s Vanier Woods neighbourhood.

Tickets are now only available online, by phone or at the dream home from 1 to 5 p.m. through Dec. 27 to 31.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” Sisco said. “The support we’ve had throughout the community this year has been fantastic. We can’t wait to see all the proceeds get out to our community organizations — they’ll be jumping for joy.”

All of the lottery proceeds stay within the community as it’s run completely by volunteers and the Kinsmen. The money goes to agencies such as the Red Deer Food Bank, Family Services of Central Alberta and the Central Alberta Emergency Women’s Shelter among many others.

Both the 50/50 and dream home draw take place later in the evening of New Year’s Eve.
