You don’t have to slap on any eye-popping Spandex, but you do have to be ready to shake your bootie to electro-pop tunes spun by DJ Saminda at a Friday, July 29, fundraising dance to benefit the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Spandy Andy is Red Deer’s best known street performer. He won a national Colgate Toothpaste video contest and appeared in auditions for the So You Think You Can Dance Canada TV show.

The Vancouver-based performer is set to lead the party at The Hub in downtown Red Deer the night before he appears as part of Centrefest.

“He’s got the spirit. (Spandy Andy) is all about community and celebrating people,” said Bev Randers, who works at The Hub, and believes the “family-friendly, physically healthy” party will be a great time.

Admission to the 6 to 9 p.m. event is by $2 donation at the door.
