A funeral for local broadcaster Lorne Starko will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Red Deer on Monday at 1 p.m.

A funeral for local broadcaster Lorne Starko will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Red Deer on Monday at 1 p.m.

Starko, senior news reporter for Zed 99 and CKGY Country, died Saturday due to complications from a heart attack.

The Rebels fan, nicknamed “Coach,” also looked after game statistics for the Red Deer team.

On Sunday a prayer service will be held in Edmonton at Annunciation Catholic Church, 9420-163 St., at 4 p.m.

A reception will follow the Red Deer service. St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church is located at 3715-39 St.
