Stelmach chides MLA for criticizing government in public

An Alberta legislature member who questioned a government decision to delay a long-term care home in his Fort McMurray riding has angered his boss even more.

EDMONTON — An Alberta legislature member who questioned a government decision to delay a long-term care home in his Fort McMurray riding has angered his boss even more.

Premier Ed Stelmach says Guy Boutilier kept up his criticism over the weekend — even after he was expelled from the Conservative caucus and the Treasury Board.

Boutilier is angry that the facility in his riding is to be delayed by four years, even though funding was approved 18 months ago.

But Stelmach says all MLAs have to accept hard decisions during the current economic climate.

He says Boutilier should have made his arguments in caucus and not in public.
