The Blackfalds-based Central Alberta service centre for STEP Energy Services raised $7,200 during its second annual Spirit of Christmas campaign.

The money went towards supporting programs at the Central Alberta Women’s Outreach Society and the Salvation Army.

STEP, which has three service locations across Alberta, committed to matching all the donations its centres raised.

This results in over $13,000 in gifts for the Salvation Army and about $1,400 was also given to support one family at Women’s Outreach, said STEP communications advisor Janet Waye.

STEP filled one of its trailers on Wednesday with all the toys and other gifts headed to the Salvation Army in Red Deer. The items will be distributed to local families in need.

The Calgary STEP office raised $4,220 and the team in Fort St. John raised $2,980.

STEP is a privately owned oilfield service company providing specialized coiled tubing units and associated pumping as well as support equipment to service the deep horizontal well market.
