EDMONTON — The federal government has announced a clinic will open in Edmonton dedicated to the treatment and support of soldiers and RCMP officers with mental-health issues.

Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson says Edmonton is the ninth such clinic to open.

He says the services will also be available to family members of those eligible.

The Edmonton clinic will have the capacity to provide specialized mental health services to between 100 and 150 clients a year.

These could include veterans, Canadian Forces members and eligible current and former members of the RCMP who have suffered service-related operational stress injuries.
