Suspect sought in connection to stolen property, drugs and ammunition

Ponoka RCMP have recovered stolen property from a school and have also issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the case.

Members of the detachment and its General Investigation Section (GIS) executed a search warrant on a local residence and recovered laptops, tools and other property that had been stolen from Crestomere Elementary School in Ponoka County in a break and enter on Sept. 17.

The search warrant was executed on Nov. 25 and involved a search of the residence Stephen James Richmond, 30, of Ponoka. In addition to the stolen property, police seized a quantity of marijuana and ammunition.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Richmond who is facing a total of 23 offences including multiple counts of possession of stolen property, breach of firearms prohibition, breach of recognizance and several firearms offences.

Ponoka RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Richmond. If he is seen, the public is asked to call 911 and not to approach him.
