Convicted prostitute killer Thomas Svekla has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl.

Convicted prostitute killer Thomas Svekla has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl.

Svekla, who had pleaded not guilty, was convicted of both sexual assault and sexual interference in an Edmonton court.

The 40-year-old man will be sentenced in an Edmonton court on April 9.

Svekla was charged in 2007 of assaulting the girl while he was dating her foster mother in 1995.

His lawyer had applied for a stay because investigators lost a videotape that had an interview with the girl, but the trial judge ruled there was other evidence to allow the trial to continue.

Svekla was convicted of second-degree murder last year in the death of Theresa Innes, who worked as a prostitute.

He is serving a life sentence.
