• Attracting and Retaining Employees Employer Workshop will be offered at Red Deer County Centre on July 8 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sponsored by Alberta Employment and Immigration, this workshop features Jeff Mulligan — mayor of city of Lloydminster — who will provide an insightful and entertaining look at where to leverage the power of social media in business, life and politics. • Opening reception for Eclectic Collage exhibit by Glenda Ganz will be held at Gallery IS on July 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. This is Ganz’s first solo exhibit, and features an extensive portfolio in print media, graphic and interior design and more. • Opening reception for Matt Gould in celebration of his exhibit Oh, Canada! new works by Matt Gould, will be on display at the Kiwanis Gallery in the lower level of Red Deer Public Library Downtown Branch until July 31. The reception hours are from 6:30 to 8:30 in the gallery and the Snell Auditorium.

• First Annual Central Alberta Draft Horse Classic draft horse halter and hitch show will be held at Olds Agricultural Society Fair Grounds on July 3 to 5. Approximately 200 Belgian, Percheron, Shire, and Clydesdale horses are expected to compete from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, New York, Washington and Wyoming. Other show features are mini horse chuckwagon races, stock dog competitions, equestrian vaulting demonstrations, Halter and Harness Heavy Horse 4H, and Kid’s Zone children’s activities. Admission is $5 or $20 per family, and children under five are free. Events begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and at 9 a.m. on Monday. A pancake breakfast will be offered on Sunday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Events Co-sponsored by Olds Agricultural Society.
