The Red Deer Symphony Orchestra is starting its silver anniversary season with a fundraising Fall Gala on Thursday, Sept. 15, with the goal of raising $50,000.

The gala begins with a 6 p.m. champagne reception, followed by an elegant six-course dinner, with live music from the RDSO string quartet.

The event will include a silent auction of more than 80 unique items, including hockey paraphernalia, concert tickets for all tastes, hotel and golf packages, white-water rafting trips, jewelry and children’s items.

The live auction will feature a mink coat, 50-bottle wine tree, boxes at Red Deer Rebels games, a condo in California, and a chance to conduct the RDSO.

Money raised through the gala will support the orchestra’s 25th season, as well as the RDSO Chamber Series and educational and outreach programs that involve up to 10,000 Central Albertans each year.

Tickets are $150, or a table of eight for $1,200 (with signage for corporations). To reserve, call the RDSO office at 403-340-2948.
