Teen charged with arson in fire that gutted apartment

GRANDE PRAIRIE — An 18-year-old man is accused of deliberately setting fire to an apartment building in northwestern Alberta that left dozens of residents homeless.

GRANDE PRAIRIE — An 18-year-old man is accused of deliberately setting fire to an apartment building in northwestern Alberta that left dozens of residents homeless.

The Eagle Manor Apartments in Grande Prairie were gutted Nov. 28 in an early morning blaze.

No one was injured.

All 43 residents of the three-storey walk-up have since found temporary lodging.

Austin Auger of High Prairie, is charged with several offences, including arson with disregard for life.

Auger is slated to appear in Grande Prairie court on Jan. 27, and in High Prairie court on Jan. 25.
