EDMONTON — A quick-thinking 14-year-old has saved himself and his two dogs from an Edmonton house fire he says started when a laptop ignited.

Tyler Evans says all he could think about was to get the dogs out and run.

The house was attached to a commercial building in the city’s northeast.

Tyler says he was chatting on Facebook and playing an online game around lunchtime Wednesday when flames started shooting out the back of his laptop.

Another computer sitting on his desk caught fire, too, as well as the desk itself.

A fire official says the blaze is not considered suspicious, although investigators haven’t confirmed it started in the laptop.

Tyler ran over to a hair salon which is in the building attached to the Evans home.

An employee called 911.
