LETHBRIDGE — Two southern Alberta teenagers have pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon for hazing high school students.

Last July, a number of students were hit with a goalie stick and a skateboard as part of a hazing ritual in Lethbridge.

The victims, who ranged in age from 14 to 16, suffered injuries included bruising and cuts.

The boy was sentenced to four months of supervised custody.

The girl was given a conditional sentence including one year probation, 40 hours of community service and she must also write letters of apology to the victims.

The judge told the court that hazing is bullying and intimidation, not a school initiation.
