ARDROSSAN — Two teenaged boys have been ordered to stand trial for first-degree murder in the deaths of a couple just over a year ago east of Edmonton.

The preliminary hearing for the youths, both 15, took nearly three weeks to complete.

The judge decided there was enough evidence to try both youths on two counts of first-degree murder.

The teens, who cannot be named, had been placed at a Bosco youth home for troubled teens, but had walked away from the facility a day before their arrests.

The bodies of Susan Trudel, 50, and Barry Boenke, who was 68, were found on a rural property near Sherwood Park last summer.

A trial date has not been set.
