Sylvan Lake RCMP began investigating last May, after hearing allegations that a former Red Flame employee stole $71,000 by making personal purchases with the company credit card, and by overpaying himself by manipulating payroll.

The alleged offences occurred between June 28, 2011, and February 25, 2013, while the suspect was still working for the company.

Sean Keith Brouillette, 43, of Sylvan Lake, is charged with theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Oct. 31.
