LA LOCHE, Sask. — Three men are facing charges after a violent mob attacked two RCMP officers in a northwestern Saskatchewan hospital and torched a police truck.

Deano LaPrise, Fabian LaPrise and Randall LaPrise are charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, arson, mischief, obstruction and participating in a riot.

RCMP say a fourth person has also been arrested and more charges are likely as the investigation continues.

The riot began Friday when an ATV crashed near a police truck parked outside two house parties in La Loche (lah-LOSH’).

The injured ATV driver passed out and some people in the crowd started threatening the two officers and blaming them for his injuries.

The officers were forced to barricade the hospital and used pepper spray to stop as many as 70 people from getting inside until backup arrived.
