Three new cases of H1N1 flu have been confirmed in Alberta, bringing the province’s total number of cases to 49.

A man from central Alberta and two women from the Edmonton area have tested positive.

Provincial health officials say all three had mild symptoms of the illness.

They’re still trying to determine if the man and one of the women had travelled to Mexico.

The second woman had not travelled there.

Health officials announced earlier that a northern Alberta woman in her 30s had become Canada’s first swine flu-related death.
