Three suspects arrested in disappearance and death of young Calgary father

Police are expected to lay murder charges after the arrest of three people in the death of a young Calgary father whose remains were found months after his disappearance.

CALGARY — Police are expected to lay murder charges after the arrest of three people in the death of a young Calgary father whose remains were found months after his disappearance.

Ryan Lane was last seen in February in the city’s northwest and his remains were discovered earlier this month, although police have not said where they were found.

Sheena Rempel, the mother of Lane’s young daughter, was arrested Thursday along with her brother-in-law, Will Rempel.

Sheena’s husband, Tim Rempel, was taken into custody in Grande Prairie, Alta., on Wednesday and will make a second court appearance Dec. 6 in Calgary.

Sheena Rempel said in a recent television interview that she was not involved in Lane’s disappearance.

Police have said they believe Lane received a call the night he disappeared from someone offering to help him in a custody dispute, but his father, Bruce, has said his son was not in a custody battle.
