Three teenagers were injured when a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the day left the road and collided with a tree Thursday night.

Three teenagers were injured when a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the day left the road and collided with a tree Thursday night.

Red Deer Rural RCMP are investigating the single-vehicle collision which occurred southwest of Springbrook.

The vehicle was reported stolen earlier in the day from Vulcan and was travelling northbound on the C&E Trail near Township Road 371 at about 8:45 p.m. when the vehicle lost control, crossed the centre line and drove into the west ditch, striking a tree.

The male driver, 16, of Vulcan, was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre before transported by STARS air ambulance to the University Hospital in Edmonton with critical injuries.

An 18-year-old male passenger, of High River and a 16-year-old male passenger, of Champion, Alta., were transported to Red Deer hospital by ambulance and treated for serious injuries.

No charges have been laid at this time.
