After making it through 90 per cent of the makeshift racetrack on the southwest parking lot corner of the Westerner grounds, Steven Vandervelden of Lacombe and his 1964 Dodge Polara had to limp off the track due to a broken throttle cable. Once a month the Red Deer Sports Car Club gives members and non-members a chance to test their driving skills during a timed run on a slalom course, normally set up on a large open parking lot. The highest speed anyone attains is usually around the 100 km/h and every vehicle must first pass a technical inspection. For more information on next timed trial go to www.rdscc.ca.
