A meadowhawk dragonfly rests on some grass in a field at Kerry Wood Nature Centre. Dragonflies act as a natural mosquito control as their diet consists of small insects such as mosquitoes, flies and ants. The helicopter-like insects have experienced a population explosion this year in some Central Alberta areas, feeding heavily on the mosquito population explosion.
