EDMONTON — A little Edmonton toddler who has undergone a second operation in New York to remove severe swelling on his face will be staying in the Big Apple a little longer.

Maddox Flynn was to return to Edmonton this week, but will stay in New York for two more weeks because of continued swelling around his mouth.

His mother, Nicole Champagne, says he needs to have a steroid injection to reduce the swelling.

The injection is scheduled for Aug. 10.

Last week, the two-year-old had the second of two surgeries to remove a lymphatic malformation on his face.

The family has been flooded with donations from the public to pay for the complex surgery to fix the boy’s condition.
