Tornado warning ended for Red Deer area

At 8.30 p.m. local RCMP reported sightings of a tornado on the ground five km west of Innisfail.

A tornado warning for Red Deer and area has been lifted.

At 8.30 p.m. local RCMP reported sightings of a tornado on the ground five km west of Innisfail.

The storm was reported to have been moving northeast at about 30 km/h. Earlier public reports indicate that this tornado initially touched down near 8.12 p.m.

At about 9:45 p.m. the tornado watch was ended, but a thunderstorm warning remains in effect.

Anyone caught in an extreme weather situation such as tornado are advised to take shelter immediately.

Stay away from windows, doors, and outside walls. If you are on the highway and cannot avoid this storm, be prepared to seek shelter off the road. If a tornado approaches seek shelter in a ditch or ravine.
