A trio of Innisfail natives will be competing for the Canadian whitewater slalom team at the Pan American Championships in Brazil Friday and Saturday.
Daniel and Thomas Purcell will compete in the C2 division with Jessica Groeneveld in K1.
They will be attempting to earn Canada a berth in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.
The Purcells need to defeat Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and the United States to qualify for the Olympics while Groeneveld is up against the Americans.
If they qualify for the Olympics, both the Purcells and Groeneveld will have to finish first at the Canadian team selection competition to be held in Charlotte, N.C.
