COCHRANE, Alta. — A man from Calgary is dead after the truck he was driving flipped into the air when an extension arm on the vehicle struck a bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway.

RCMP say the westbound truck rolled and split in two after the collision Sunday evening west of the city.

The 45-year-old victim was airlifted to hospital where he died.

His name has not been released.

Police say alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.

They also say emergency crews were forced to close both westbound lanes of the highway for a few hours while the wreckage was cleared.
