Two Central Alberta organizations honoured at Alberta business awards of distinction

Two Central Alberta organizations have earned provincial recognition for their operations.Barr-Ag Ltd. of Olds and the Maskwacis Ambulance Authority at Maskwacis (formerly Hobbema) received Alberta Business Awards of Distinction Friday evening.

Two Central Alberta organizations have earned provincial recognition for their operations.

Barr-Ag Ltd. of Olds and the Maskwacis Ambulance Authority at Maskwacis (formerly Hobbema) received Alberta Business Awards of Distinction Friday evening.

Barr-Ag received its award in the Export category, while the Maskwacis Ambulance Authority won under the Eagle Feather heading.

Clearview Glass Service Ltd. of Sylvan Lake was a finalist in the Small Business category.

Created by Alberta Economic Development and Tourism in 1992, the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction are now presented by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce.

There are 11 award categories, including Aboriginal Relations — Best Practice, Aboriginal Women Entrepreneur, Arts & Culture, Diversity Leadership, Employer of Persons with Disabilities, Employer of Youth, Marketing, Small Business and Young Entrepreneur.

A Premier’s Award is also presented to an overall winner.
