YOUNG, Sask. — RCMP say two young girls have come forward and admitted responsibility for a fire that destroyed a century-old hotel in Young, Sask.

Police say the girls, 10 and 12, snuck out of their home early Sunday, went to the post office and took some flyers back to the hotel.

Mounties say the girls lit a small fire to warm up, then returned home leaving the fire unattended.

The hotel, which closed six months ago, burned to the ground.

RCMP are encouraging parents to talk to their kids about fire safety.
