Two Mounties in northern Alberta beaten severely

EDMONTON — Three men are in custody in northern Alberta after two Mounties called out to break up a fight were swarmed and beaten severely.

EDMONTON — Three men are in custody in northern Alberta after two Mounties called out to break up a fight were swarmed and beaten severely.

One male Mountie had cuts and a broken nose after the fight, while his female partner had bones broken in her face and had to be airlifted to Edmonton for treatment.

The pair were responding to a complaint of problems at a house north of Peace River.

When they arrived and tried to arrest one man inside the house, they were attacked with weapons including brass knuckles.

They tried to use pepper spray and Tasers and eventually managed to get clear of the house as backup arrived.

Charged with multiple offences including assault of a police officer are: Patrick Carifelle, Keith Carifelle, and Clinton Carifelle.
