United Way of Central Alberta just misses fundraising goal

United Way of Central Alberta just missed its $1.96-million campaign goal for 2011 by about $25,000.

United Way of Central Alberta just missed its $1.96-million campaign goal for 2011 by about $25,000.

United Way CEO Robert Mitchell said it’s a little disappointing, but the numbers are heading in the right direction.

“We raised $1.9 (million) last year so it’s a significant increase from last year,” said Mitchell at the announcement on Thursday morning at Donald School of Business.

“It’s still a challenging economic situation for some people, so we’re pleased.”

United Way’s annual fundraising campaign raises money for 32 community agencies that assist one in three Central Albertans each year.

Each year, the United Way helps about 92,000 Central Albertans.
