Van Dornick ties at Ponoka

Frank Van Dornick, a multiple winner of the Central Alberta Amateur at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, carded a second-round 70 Wednesday and was tied for the lead heading into today’s final 18 holes of the Alberta Men’s Mid-Amateur at Wolf Creek.

PONOKA — Frank Van Dornick, a multiple winner of the Central Alberta Amateur at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, carded a second-round 70 Wednesday and was tied for the lead heading into today’s final 18 holes of the Alberta Men’s Mid-Amateur at Wolf Creek.

Van Dornick enters the final round tied with a 1-over 143 total, tied with Alan Stewart of Grande Prairie.

Meanwhile, former Mid-Amateur champ Tom Skinner of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club (RDG&CC) fired a 71 and sat just three shots back of the leaders leading into today’s final round with a 146 total, tied with first-round co-leaders Grant Lee of the RDG&CC and Dale Goehring of Calgary Glencoe, who both checked in with a 77.
