Vipers blow away Bears, fall in OT to Thrashers

The Vipers dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Three Hills Thrashers on the road Saturday and came back with a 10-1 victory in Banff Sunday.

Coke deGraaf scored three goals and added four assists against Banff with David Foord added two goals and four assists and Jeff Kohut two goals and five helpers.

Tanner Howe, Braden Corbett and Kolton Gillett added single goals. Jason Pohl made 14 saves in goal with Dylan Robertson spoiling his shutout bid at 16:34 of the third period.

Luc Scheunert scored at 4:04 of overtime to give the Thrashers the win Saturday.

Tyrel Severtson had two goals and Zach Bauer one for Three Hills.

Gillett scored twice and Foord once for the Vipers, who finished with 34 shots on Devon Deil. Pohl made 31 saves in goal for Red Deer.

Meanwhile, the Ponoka Stampeders edged the Blackfalds Wranglers 3-2 Sunday after losing 4-3 to the Strathmore Wheat Kings Saturday.

The Stampeders got goals from Kirby Nelson, Sean Emes and Josh Critch in the first period against the Wranglers. Cameron Tensen scored for Blackfalds in the second period and Jared Williams in the third.

Ponoka goalie Logan Stebner finished with 52 saves while Reagan Hughes made 30 saves for Ponoka.

Josh Elliott, Jared Kambeitz and Jarrett Zietarsky connected for Ponoka against Strathmore.

The Stettler Lightning lost 6-1 to the Mountain View Colts Saturday and 9-4 to Airdrie Sunday.

Dylan Muhlbach scored against the Colts.
