Jeff Kohut scored the winner as the Vipers slipped past the visitors 2-1 in Heritage Junior B Hockey League action at the Arena Monday.
Braden Corbett also tallied for Red Deer while Gavin Brandl notched the lone goal for Stettler.
Jarren Nickle made 33 saves for the Vipers, with Simon Thieleman turning aside 32 shots for the Lightning.
