Roxanne Kirton, Westerner marketing manager, said 11,956 people filed through the turnstiles compared to 15,410 in 2010.

A mid-afternoon thunder storm and downpour that hit the grounds Wednesday caused the midway to shut down for a short while.

The rain held off during Wednesday’s Westerner Days parade, where the City of Leduc was a double winner, capturing the Grand Award and the Civic Entry.

The Screamers took an honourable mention in the Grand Award while the Relax Crew captured the Adult Community Organization Award. Premier Cheer took the Big People, Little People trophy while Home to Home to Home Moving won the Comic and Novelty award.

Billy Bob’s took the top Commercial Float award while Screamers took the Decorated Vehicle top trophy and Air Canada the Professionally Decorated trophy.

Carl Maciborski won the Collectible Vehicle top award.
